Walk For Hunger
This 5K walk each fall is a community response to hunger in the Allegheny Valley. Walkers from local churches, organizations and the community collect pledges to support the fight against hunger.
The walk begins at the Heights Plaza parking lot and proceeds through the streets of Natrona Heights then through Brackenridge and back through the Heights. This year’s event will be a little different as we will not be able to hold the after walk celebration due to the pandemic.
This year’s Walk will be held on October 5, 2025, with registration starting at 1:00 pm at the Heights Plaza in Natrona Heights. Walkers were asked to pick up a sponsor envelope in advance of the Walk and collect from friends and family for their efforts. Envelopes can be picked up at the AVAC office or at some local church offices. Walkers who collect $100 or more will receive a free Walk for Hunger T-shirt. Those who do not have sponsors can purchase a shirt for $15 if they wish.
Can’t walk with us due to other commitments or just not comfortable gathering with others? Round-up your family and friends and hold your own walk! Still can’t do it?? A personal financial gift or a collection from your circle will assist us in feeding those who are food insecure, whether you walk or not.
