Faith-In-Action

This program provides volunteers to the elderly and disabled members of the Allegheny Valley community. The basic purpose is to provide “neighborly acts of kindness” to help ease the isolation of the frail and elderly. With more than 30 seniors currently receiving services, our volunteers are quite busy.
The types of services we provide are:

  • Friendly visiting
  • Telephone reassurance
  • Transportation to the doctor’s office or grocery store
  • Shopping service (for those who are unable to shop for themselves)
  • Light housekeeping
  • Food delivery from the AVAC Food Bank (for those who qualify)

Although we provide no personal care services, many seniors find the Faith-in-Action volunteers to be vital links in their struggle to remain independent.
For more information on what you can do to help, please visit our volunteer page or contact us.
